About the "Spirit of PITTSBURGH"

The MedExpress Spirit of Pittsburgh Half Marathon & Two Person Relay is the second event in the Spirit of America Half Marathon Race Series presented by Run Wild Racing. The "Spirit Of" concept is about two things; the first is getting back to essence of "Racing". The second is about the "Spirit" of the community that is hosting the event such as Columbus and Pittsburgh.

It's a celebration of your "Spirit" with this accomplishment and passion for running or race walking.

Run Wild Racing is going to treat every participant, whether athlete, runner or race walker, with the utmost admiration and respect. We want to celebrate the dedication, drive and passion that you have put into your sport.

Wheel Chair Athletes - 7:25 a.m.
All other athletes - 7:30 a.m.

race categories

Categories apply for the male division and female division

Wheelchair Athlete

This category is for Open Rim Chairs only.

Age Groups

11 to 14, 15 to 19, 20 to 24, 25 to 29, 30 to 34, 35 to 39, 40 to 44, 45 to 49, 50 to 54, 55 to 59, 60 to 64, 65 to 69, and 70+

Cruisers

Males that have a race day weight of over 200lbs - Females that have a race day weight of over 150lbs.

IMPORTANT: Athletes do NOT have to categorize themselves as a Cruiser if they choose to participate in their age group division.

Athletes in this category will be weighed at packet pickup on Friday and Saturday.

Race Walkers

Race Walkers will be monitored and must walk throughout the entire race course.

If a Race Walker is caught running or jogging, that athlete will be disqualified from the Race Walking category and will be placed in their respective age group category for the purpose of timing and results.

awards

All finishers will receive a MedExpress Spirit of Pittsburgh Half Marathon finisher's medal and a technical finisher hat upon completion of the event. Your long sleeve finisher's technical Shirt will be given to you at packet pickup.

All category awards are based on the top three in each division.
